im starting to think that building fast street cars is a dumb idea.

whats the point to build an all steel car and get shutdown by a race car wherever you go?

All you end up with is a heavy car that you run alot of power in and tear it up?  im done.

You guys are right. I am coming home and starting. I was just a little depressed last night after watching some pro mod videos.

But now i am remembering what Spiro said to us the first time we were in vegas.  He looked at the car and said "Don"t you want to win?"

Hmm, I've been tossing the idea around in my head of getting rid of my '66 Pro Street Nova (all steel except for hood and trunk).  But, i wouldn't go as far as to say that it's "light" (even though that was what I was told when I bought it!).

Brandons is a post car. I believe they are lighter than a hardtop. Although he also has a full cage out of mild steel so his could be lighter yet with a moly cage.

"Light" is the same as "nice paint" its all a matter of perspective. 2680 lbs for a car you can drive on the street is light to me.

I have a race ready (with driver) weight of about 3050.  however, I carry more fuel than most and bigger radiator, which adds up to quite a bit of liquid weight actually.  Oh yeah and it's BBC because there is no replacement for displacement (except maybe when boost is involved!)

But I don't consider a racecar light until it is 2300-2400 lbs ready to run down the track.

     Well that sucks!
Someday I"ll have to tell you the story about me buying a lite car only to find out it was not so lite after all. I wish mine was only 3000lbs!!

Yvonne Lucas's pro mod car I built weighed 2070 race ready with her in it. now that's light. I built a 2007 GTO that was 2100 race ready with driver.  real Carbon Fiber is the key. Heavy cars have physics to fight against. You can't win against that.
